She was just another hopeful face in the crowd but now model Mayowa Nicholas has hit the big time. The big time also hit Connor McGregor (not in the way he hoped) as he was knocked out by champ Mayweather. These are the stories that made our week.

Money fall on you

Floyd Mayweather hitting Connor McGregor

It wasn’t as romantic as the Davido song when Floyd “Money” Mayweather felled Connor McGregor decisively in the tenth round of the much-anticipated Vegas match, but both went dancing afterwards (separately) to celebrate the highest earning boxing match of all time. The Irishman earned at least $100 million, while Floyd’s payout is estimated to be up to 300 million. Who needs romance?

Mayowa rising to the top

Mayowa Nicholas

Nigerian model Mayowa Nicholas joined the Victoria Secret roster this week. The 18-year-old former Elite Model Look Nigeria winner has had a great year becoming the face of Calvin Klein and Marc Jacobs Beauty. VMAs happened

Kendrick Lamar after taking home six VMAs

Scores were settled and political points made at this year’s eventful MTV’s Video Music Awards. Singer Taylor Swift used it as a platform for her new album Reputation (despite not actually attending) and rapper Kendrick Lamar (usually the bridesmaid at award ceremonies) finally won big winning in six out of eight nominated categories including Video of the Year for Humble.

Okoye twins on fleek

Paul Okoye’s twins: Nathan and Nadia Okoye

Congrats to Psquare’s Paul and Anita Okoye on welcoming twins last month in Atlanta. Nadia and Nathan Okoye so far are enjoying their celebrity status. Of course, the twins already have a stream of celebrity well-wishers, their own Instagram account Nadia and Nathan Okoye, and a hashtag #Nsquare so every movement may be monitored for social media. They are the second and third child for the couple.
