Interviewing People Is My Calling: Chude Jideonwo
Popular Social media interviewer and veteran broadcast journalist Chude Jideonwo has spoken out about his chosen career path, seeing it as a calling.
He revealed this on his program, “WithChude” in a more than 6-minute video reflecting how he started his career as an interviewer”
Chude said, “I started interviewing people 20 years ago, when I interviewed Chimamanda Adichie, who is now a celebrated sister, then Dare Art Alade, then my editor (Muhtar Bakare) said to me then, I am one of the best interviews he’s ever seen, but I didn’t believe him because I taught then he was only trying to encourage me”
Chude is known for his professionalism and various actors and actresses who have passed through his interview sessions; amongst them are, Veterans in the industries, Adewale Ayuba, Pet Edochie, BBN stars, Venita, and many others.
He also recounts when he started the show, back then in 2020, and when there were no cameras, or video to capture the moments “Nothing gives me joy than to hear people’s stories, and give them advice on how to move a bit forward” he said.
However, he advised his listeners and viewers that in a country like Nigeria, where there are a lot of distractions, like poverty, and fuel being gold, one could be distracted from his or her calling.
“I never knew how to make money from this show, from my time on channels doing “Rubbin Minds” there were no models, and I knew how difficult it was to get advertising”
He also spoke about his time at NTA, while confessing he started interviewing people at the age of 15. Jude Jideonwo is an accomplished host, with millions of streams, but he is known for the thought-provoking and heart-to-heart conversations he usually has with his guests.
