Nigerian cyclist Emmanuel Myam, better known as Emmiwuks, has arrived Cotonou, Benin Republic, on Day 5 of his solo bicycle journey from Lagos to the United States.

The 25-year-old announced his arrival on Friday via Instagram, thanking locals for their warm reception and reaffirming his mission to raise funds and awareness for orphaned and displaced children across Nigeria and Africa.

“Merci beaucoup Cotonou! Vous êtes incroyables. C’est une ville magnifique,” he wrote in appreciation of the city’s hospitality.

According to him, the journey, tagged NIG2USA ON BICYCLE, is more than just a personal challenge, but a campaign for resilience, hope, and purpose.

“It hasn’t been easy… riding under the scorching sun, soaked by the rain, and sometimes with no safe place to camp. But your support keeps me going,” he wrote in the update.

“Truth is, the real journey hasn’t even started yet so don’t rush or get tired before me. There’s still a long way to go, and I need you all beside me till the end.”

He added, “To the critics, I see you too, and I’m grateful. Your concerns show you care, and I don’t take it for granted. But since there’s no turning back… let’s ride this together.”

The Benue-born cyclist urged supporters to keep tagging media platforms and influencers to help amplify the project. “We need everyone on board to make this dream a reality,” he said.

Emmiwuks first caught public attention in 2023 when he cycled from Makurdi to Lagos to meet singer Davido. He has since hosted cycling awareness events and said this journey was inspired by a near-death experience in 2023 and a desire to help vulnerable children.

With Togo as his next destination, Emmiwuks promised to keep pushing forward “one country at a time.”
