Wonder Women Wednesday: From Kechi To Riri

Who runs the world? Girls! Who runs the world? Girls!

Well in this case women. Worldwide we recognise women are beginning to acknowledge the existence of their feminine power, how limitless they are and are being more intentional with their progression to success.

Be it in the creative industry to the music industry, today we appreciate them with this #WWW post (no shade #WCW)

Chimamanda Adichie

Nigeria’s sweetheart Chimamanda Adichie, the young and accomplished Nigerian writer and author, has been honoured with the ‘Doctor of Letters’ degree at the University of Edinburgh Scotland, United Kingdom. The honorary doctorate degree was presented to the writer by the university’s Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Timothy O’Shea, at a special ceremony at the school’s St Cecilia’s Hall – Scotland’s oldest concert hall.

Kechi Okwuchi

Kechi may have emerged from the Sosoliso plane crash scared for life but there is no stopping this survivor from chasing her dreams and we cheer her on for this as she continues to flourish. She took to her Instagram page to announce her pleasant success at the America’s Got Talent.

Recently, a video of her powerful performance at the competition where she impressed the judges made it to YouTube and made some viewers cry. She gave a beautiful rendition of Estelle Darling’s I Am A Conqueror at the America’s Got Talent 2017 finale last night.

‪Rihanna’s Instagram handle is BadGalRiRi for a reason. The pop star has an insatiable appetite for danger, and her risk-taking swagger permeates everything she does, not least her sense of style. From a thriving music career after dropping Wild Thoughts on us to a diverse makeup line Fenty Beauty to dominating the fashion industry with her collaboration with Puma Fenty x Puma, We cannot get enough of Riri this year. You go, girl!!!

Amaka Osakwe

Popularly known as Maki Oh, we recognise Nigerian designer’s gorgeous line of the Maki Oh Fall 2017 fashion collection to her feature in Vogue. her pieces are casually elegant, sexy and modern and crafted with playful construction. The designer toyed with both soft and hard designs, including Nigerian prints, bold colours and peek-a-boo black mesh and garters.

Ms Osakwe says the fall 2017 runway represented the streets of Nigeria and a working-class girl’s night out as she depicted her culture and fashion perspective through her beautiful models. She’s quickly built a huge following and designers’ respect since conceiving her brand in 2010.
