Lisa Marie Presley Died Of Weight Loss Surgery

The sad passing of Lisa Marie Presley, a singer-songwriter and the only child of the famous rock and roll icon Elvis Presley, was caused by a blockage in her digestive system linked to previous surgery to help her lose weight, according to medical examiners.

The cause of her death was revealed by the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner in a statement Thursday. He said, “Her cause of death was determined to be “a small bowel obstruction caused by scar tissue that developed after a previous bariatric surgery years ago. The manner of death is natural,”

Presley, who lived a troubled life in the shadow of her internationally renowned father, passed away in January at the age of 54.

She was discovered unresponsive at her home and quickly taken to the hospital, but could not be revived.

The cause of her death was determined to be a partial blockage in her small intestine caused by scar tissue that formed after a weight loss surgery she had undergone years ago. The medical examiner stated that her death was a natural occurrence.

Weight loss surgery, also known as bariatric surgery, is a procedure that reduces the size of the stomach and is performed on individuals who want to lose a significant amount of weight.

Presley’s ex-husband, Danny Keough, found her on January 12 and she was declared dead later that day, according to the medical examiner’s report.

Danny Keough, who used to be married to Presley but had separated in 1994, was living at her residence in the celebrity-filled suburb of Calabasas, Los Angeles. He performed CPR on her until paramedics arrived and took her to the hospital. </span

TMZ reported that she was put into a medically induced coma on life support before passing away.

Apart from Keough, Presley had been married to Nicolas Cage, Michael Jackson, and actor-composer Michael Lockwood.</span

Lisa Marie was the only child of Elvis Presley. She previously had control over Elvis Presley Enterprises, although she sold most of her shares in the company to a private equity firm in 2005.

She still had ownership of Graceland, her father’s estate where he was found unconscious in August 1977.

Elvis’ widow, Priscilla Presley, reached a settlement in May after a disagreement over a change that removed her from her daughter’s will.

In addition to her mother, Lisa Marie Presley is survived by her daughter Riley Keough, who appeared in the film “Mad Max: Fury Road,” as well as her teenage twin daughters Harper and Finley. Her son Benjamin Keough tragically died by suicide in 2020.
