Lobi Stars battle Delta Marine as Federation Cup resumes today

Former champions, Lobi Stars of Makurdi, will resume their campaign to regain the President Federation Cup they last won in 2003 when they confront Delta Marine today at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

It is one of the matches of the round of 16 of the competition, which star game is tomorrow’s encounter between Enugu Rangers and Kano Pillars in Abuja.

The men’s round of 64 games will hold today and tomorrow in Abuja, Kaduna, Owerri, Lafia, Awka, Enugu, Benin City, Ibadan, Asaba, Ilorin, Aba and Kano.


The 32 matches will produce the candidate teams for the round of 32.

Playing in Abuja today, defending champions, Bendel Insurance will meet Stormers SC of Ogun, while Wikki Tourists are pitted against Jr. Danburan of Katsina in Kaduna, just as Osun United will be up against Abuja’s EFCC FC in Awka.

The women’s version of the competition will resume next with at the round of 32 stage in nine centres across the federation.

The centres are Uyo, Enugu, Asaba, Lafia, Ibadan, Benin City, Akure, Auchi and Abuja.
Cup holders, Bayelsa Queens, are up against Bright Future Queens of Enugu at the Uyo Township Stadium, while last year’s runners-up, Rivers Angels, will tackle Ekiti Queens in Asaba.

Nasarawa Amazons will confront Suit De Queens from Oyo State in Enugu, while Delta Queens take on Fortress Ladies of Edo in Akure.
