M·A·C debuts new retail concept at garden city in Port Harcourt

M·A·C Cosmetics, leading professional makeup brand, is reimagining the future of shopping for makeup with a new and unique retail concept at Garden City Mall, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The bespoke store features a range of exciting new experiences that are deeply customisable and effortlessly smart and seamless.


They include, art studio, with immersive station equipped with AR-powered Virtual Try-On screens enabling consumers to instantly sample makeup trends, curate their own makeup look or watch a tutorial.

Product testers are also available at the stations to try on the looks in real life.

The firm also listed Custom Printing, which will personalise the iconic M·A·C black lipsticks and eye palette packaging with personal images and text – or choose from a range of emojis or M·A·C-branded stickers.

Others include, Customise Your Palette which customers will choose from 100+ shades to create custom eye shadow palettes in a range of sizes (two to nine shades per palette).

The firm said for inspiration, customers can also choose from palettes specially curated by local Artists and influencers, free from formaldehyde and its donors, mineral oil, SLS/SLES, parabens, phthalates, petrolatum and animal-derived ingredients.

The M·A·C Cosmetics Global Brand President, Philippe Pinatel, said: “M·A·C is proud to lead the transformation of beauty retail with our new store of the future – which combines the best of the physical and digital worlds to offer a one-of-a-kind shopping experience you can only get at M·A·C.

According to Pinatel, “the new premium design features Virtual Try-On screens throughout the store for consumers to find their perfect foundation match or sample an assortment of 280 lip shades, 100 eye shadows, ten mascaras, 12 brow products, 23 eye liners, 45 full-face looks or achieve their skin goals with our new skincare finder.”


Pinatel stated that M·A·C Trend stations also allow consumers to sample its favourite makeup trends using M·A·C products, and NEW + NOW! testing stations showcase all of the latest M·A·C product innovations.

“The store serves as a beacon for the brand’s longstanding social and environmental commitments. Consumers can sample and purchase VIVA GLAM lipsticks, which give back 100 per cent of the selling price to organisations advancing healthy futures and equal rights. In addition, consumers can shop a diverse lineup of products formulated to be accessible to all skin tones, including M·A·C Studio Fix foundation’s extensive 60+ shade range.

“M·A·C has been piloting this new retail concept over the past few years, beginning with the opening of the M·A·C Experience Centre in Shanghai in 2019 followed by New York’s Queens Centre in 2020. As of April 2023, more than 64 M·A·C locations have launched this new retail concept and more than 90 locations will be open by the end of 2023.
