Mabel Calls For Privacy Amid Separation From Comedian AY

Mabel Makun, wife of comedian AY, has addressed the public regarding their separation.

Expressing gratitude for the support received, Mabel emphasized the importance of respect and privacy, particularly for the sake of their children’s mental health and well-being.

“Although my dreams of a lifelong marriage have taken a different direction, I am committed to moving forward with grace and resilience,” Mabel wrote.

She expressed that she has chosen to honour her children with silence, refraining from addressing the lies and attacks that have surfaced on social media.

“Many lies have been peddled against me and attack orchestrated on the social media space but I will honour my kids with my silence and not address any of these lies.”

She asked for guidance from as she embarks on a new chapter of her life, pleading with people to create an atmosphere of understanding as they navigate their separation.

“While it’s unexpected for things to end this way, I quietly ask for guidance from my faith as I step into this new chapter of life. Also as we navigate this change, I ask for your help in creating an atmosphere of respect and understanding. This is a challenging period, and l ask for privacy and consideration as we (my ex-husband and 1) find our own path forward.” she pleaded.

Concluding her statement, Mabel extended her best wishes to her husband on his journey, “I wish him the very best in his journey as well.”

AY and Mabel met during their university days at Delta State University. They got married on November 29, 2008, after welcoming their first child, Michelle. The couple struggled with infertility for 13 years before being blessed with their second child, Ayomide, in January 2022.

In early 2023, Mabel voiced concerns over threats to her life and unfollowed AY on Instagram, which started rumours of marital issues.

AY confirmed the separation, acknowledging personal flaws that affected their marriage. He expressed reluctance to entertain the public with deep personal family issues.

Mabel also made an Instagram post hinting at her approach to the ongoing marital issues, stating, “Distance is my new response to disrespect. I don’t react, I don’t argue, I don’t dive into the drama. I simply remove myself.”
