The Oyo State Government has set up a platform for donations of money to the victims of the explosion which occurred in Bodija, Ibadan.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, in a statement, disclosed that his administration has taken steps to support the victims of the fire incident to rebuild their lives.
Makinde in an update on the Bodija incident started by thanking all those who took part in the search and rescue operations at Ground Zero over the past week especially the first responders from OYSEMA, medical workers, and security agencies.
He said he would also like to reiterate his administration’s commitment to ensuring that the victims get justice.
Makinde said that the Oyo State Government is still collating the details of those affected and will announce comprehensive steps they will take to support the victims to rebuild their lives.
“We have also set up a platform for donations to victims. The money donated goes directly to the Landlords/Residents Association’s bank account,” Makinde said.
“Our administration will also work with them to ensure that the money is distributed to the right beneficiaries. Link for donation is https://emergencysupport.oyostate.gov.ng.”
The Oyo State Governor thanked the team from the Nigeria Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NNRA) who took measurements at the epicentre and found only normal background radiation doses.
Also, he thanked the geologists from the University of Ibadan led by two Professors who are taking the seismic measurements from the epicentre.
Makinde added that the structural integrity tests on buildings around Ground Zero are still ongoing.
According to him, the Emergency Operations Centre is available to attend to anyone affected by the explosion.
“Any persons still not accounted for after the incident should be reported to the EOC on 07049948057 or 08147672009,” he said.
“Residents of Oyo State are once again reminded to call 615 free of charge if they see anything untoward in their communities. Remember, if you see something, say something and the authorities will act on your report.”
