Makinde presents report on explosion to President

FG still awaiting forensic investigation, Alake restates

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has presented the report of last Tuesday’s explosion in Ibadan to President Bola Tinubu. According to a statement by Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, which was made available to journalists in Ibadan, yesterday, Makinde was at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, to present the report to the President at the weekend.

Makinde, while appreciating the Presidency for its support following the incident, promised that the Oyo State government would do everything possible to provide succour to victims and punish those behind the tragedy.

MEANWHILE, the Federal Government has restated that it is still awaiting the outcome of a forensic investigation ordered to ascertain the cause of the explosion.

Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, restated this, yesterday, while inspecting the ground zero of the explosion. Alake assured Nigerians that the Federal Government would address the challenges from the root, stating government’s resolve to await the outcome of the investigations before making a definite pronouncement.

He, therefore, urged the public to allow security agencies to perform their duties, adding that culprits of the heinous act will be brought to book. Besides, he reiterated the government’s determination to end the influx of illegal miners in the country.
