Makinde swears in new LG chairs, vice-chairs

Governor Seyi Makinde, on Friday, inaugurated the newly elected chairmen and vice chairmen for the 33 local government areas of Oyo State.


The ceremony took place at the House of Chiefs, Parliament Building, Secretariat, Ibadan, where the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Iyabo Yerima, administered the oath of office.

Speaking at the event, Governor Makinde, represented by his deputy Bayo Lawal, urged the new council leaders to replicate the administration’s vision in their respective LGAs.

He stressed the importance of implementing people-oriented programmes and policies aimed at improving the lives of the citizens.

Makinde affirmed that the electoral processes leading to the emergence of the new chairmen were credible, free, and fair; he, therefore, encouraged them to uphold democratic values and the rule of law to ensure their tenures are marked by significant grassroots development.

The governor advised the newly inaugurated council chairmen to work diligently to develop their respective councils.
