Solomon Chiana arrested for trying to sell eight-year-old son

One Solomon Chiana has been sentenced to five years imprisonment for attempting to sell his eight-year-old son for N20million.

National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic In Persons (NAPTIP) confirmed this in a statement on its X handle.

Chiana, 42, was sentenced alongside one Pius Aondoakaa, 28, who conspired with the former to sell his son.

The two defendants were sentenced in the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Makurdi, Benue State.


According to NAPTIP, they were both charged under sections 27 (Conspiracy) and 21 (Buying and Selling of Human Beings) of the TIPPEA Act 2015.

They were arrested in January 2024 by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Command.

The FCT Commandant of the NSCDC, Olusola Odumosu, who paraded them after their arrest, revealed that Chiana, a father of six children, enlisted the services to find a buyer for the victim, who happens to be his fourth child.
