Sex Workers

There was confusion at Omole Estate, Modakeke, in Ife-East Local Council of Osun State, after a group of sex workers attacked one of their clients who escaped their brothel without payment.

The young man, simply identified as Esejawo, reportedly had sexual intercourse with a commercial sex worker and refused to pay. The Guardian learnt he had negotiated with the worker for a short time in a room within a brothel in the area, and both settled for N10,000.

According to an eyewitness, trouble started when the man refused to pay afterwards. Following the disappearance of Esejawo from the vicinity, the sex worker alerted her colleagues and they launched a search for him.

“What truly happened was that the young man had sex with the worker at about 12:00a.m. Afterwards, the man told her that he wanted to have a bath beside the house. When the sex worker did not see him at about 12:45a.m. she began to call his number. But he didn’t pick it up till 7:00a.m.

“Thereafter, the sex worker called her colleagues, and they began to search for him in the community. Immediately the sex worker saw the man, she slapped him and raised the alarm by calling him a thief, which drew residents of the community out,” the eyewitness said.Community leaders and other residents were said to have intervened and settled the case amicably.
