Man seeks help after wife, two children were electrocuted

The deceased woman and daughter

Father of the two children and husband to Ujunwa Chukwuma, who were electrocuted at Mowe market in Obafemi-Owode Local Council of Ogun State, has appealed to the government and good Nigerians to come to his assistance.

Adim, who narrated his ordeal during a visit to the Rutam House headquarters of The Guardian, in Isolo, Lagos State, said the corpse of his late wife was still in the mortuary because he could not afford the money for her burial.

He said the two children suffered severe burn injuries. Both were hospitalised. However, one (a daughter) succumbed to her wounds. Adim said the other child still remained in the hospital. “My son will go to the theatre next week for operations because he needs quality healthcare to survive. But there is no money,” he lamented.

Adim lives at No. 6 Larubawa Olohun Street, Ogo-Oluwa community, Sodeko Village, Ofada Mowe, off Paradise Hotel Ogun State.

According to him, following the tragedy, he visited the chairman of Obafemi-Owode Local Council, seeking financial support but couldn’t find any.
He said the incident happened following a spark from the suspended step-down transformer next to his wife’s shop.

He noted that since the incident happened, only officials of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) had visited, and supported the medical treatments with N600,000.

He said since that time, he had spent more than N3 million on medical and related expenses. He added: “I need government’s financial support to enable me to pay the hospital bills and also bury my wife. During the treatment, doctors referred us to different hospitals which made the bills far beyond what I can bear.”
