Mbah bags Lions Club’s Melvin Jones Award

Governor Peter Mbah

The outgoing District Governor of Lions Club International District 404A1, Nigeria, Anogwi Anyanwu, has honoured Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah, with the Melvin Jones Award.

The event, which marked the end of Anyanwu’s one year (2022-2023) tenure at the helms of affairs, also featured recognition of individuals who helped him achieve the club’s mission of empowering and supporting those in need through humanitarian services and grants.

Mbah, a well-known philanthropist and founder of the Peter Mbah Foundation (PMF), a not-for- profit and non-political organisation, with a goal of improving standards of living in rural communities and human capital development, was recognised for his service to humanity.

Anyanwu said: “Lions Clubs International recognises outstanding individuals by conferring on them the award named after its founder, Melvin Jones; a recognition that embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism.

The Melvin Jones Award ranks with the Lions Humanitarian Award, which is the highest honour of the association, given to an individual or organisation with exemplary humanitarian efforts.”
