Media hub to upskill 5,000 young creatives for global post-production masterclass

Mswitch Creative Media Hub has announced the launch of an ambitious talent development initiative to position 5,000 young Nigerians for global post-production roles over the next half-decade.

Since its inception in February 2024, the program has already equipped twenty emerging talents with robust sound design skills through a combination of immersive classroom sessions and hands-on projects.

These budding creatives have honed their abilities and are primed to unveil their innovative projects at the upcoming Demo Day, slated for April 16th and 17th, 2024, to be held at Mswitch Media Office and Jabi Lake Mall in Abuja respectively.

Themed “Positioning Nigerian Creative for Global Post-Production Demand,” the Demo Day marks the pinnacle of the inaugural cohort’s journey through the Academy’s comprehensive capacity development program. The two-day event will include a stakeholder workshop and a Graduation Ceremony.

The workshop will feature distinguished speakers from both local and international spheres, including Hollywood luminary Gabe Converse, Kadir Salami, Co-Founder of Mswitch, SA to the President on Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Ayo Adeagbo and Dr. Olufemi Adeluyi, National Coordinator of the National Talent Export Program, among others. Discussion topics will revolve around leveraging Nigeria’s burgeoning youth population to cultivate creative talents primed for global export.

The Graduation Ceremony promises to offer attendees an immersive glimpse into the program’s transformative impact. Graduates will showcase their projects, providing tangible evidence of their newly acquired skills. Industry stakeholders will have the opportunity to engage with the graduates, potentially offering avenues for future collaboration and employment.

The Demo Day agenda boasts a rich lineup, including a Keynote Address, Panel Sessions, Experience Tours, Workshops, and a call for applications for subsequent cohorts. Notable figures from the government, the private sector, academia, the diplomatic corps, and development partners are expected to participate.
