Meet “Philip Austin Brooks” pro athlete, philanthropist, and entrepreneur

Philip Austin Brooks is an African American Pro athlete. The former basketball player who grew up in the United States was born on September 07, 1984, in Texas. The Philanthropist became an entrepreneur after he retired from competitive sports. Brooks’s firsthand knowledge of how important cultural diversity is, and how it affects the attitude of people led to him founding the “Butterflies Learning Centers” where children despite their cultural diversity come and learn in a fun-filled environment.

Philip Austin Brooks signed a basketball contract right after he graduated from the university and spent the next several years in Germany, Qatar, Spain, Kosovo, Columbia, and Macedonia, and touring Europe.

Brooks played college basketball at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Langston University, and Abilene Christian University. He played for Vellaznimi Gjakove of the ETC Super League and in his last match, He was awarded the “Most Valuable Player” for his contribution to the team’s scoring.

During his career as a basketball player, Philip observed that children who have insecure attachment styles growing up were more likely to have less qualitative quality relationships with their teammates. He believed that it is important to start children’s development and/or to cultivate their talent from an early age. This motivated him that upon his retirement in 2017, he and his wife Makedonka Brooks founded “Little Butterflies Learning Center” in Dallas, Texas, a learning facility for kids of 0 – 12 years. The center aims to create a conducive learning environment for kids and to bring racial equality to the community.

The diversified cultural atmosphere was built to develop children for today’s world. The center has a team of highly trained specialized teachers and loving caregivers who provide exceptional education in international languages, and cultures in a fun-filled and completely nurtured home environment.

With time, the center included foreign studies and the usual curriculum in its syllabus. However, the center’s expansion continued in 2019 when it opened three more franchises in other cities. In July 2020, they launched the center’s 9th location in Sugarland, Texas.

Brooks took a further step in opening more franchises as well as introducing new learning strategies and techniques in its teaching style, initiating cross-culture education, in Texas.

“My mission is to establish 100 more centers so that I can play a role in the better growth of the children in the US and around the world”, Brooks says.

Philip, has progressed rapidly, and transitioned from star athlete to entrepreneur in a short period, and is hoping to leave enduring footprints by expanding the number of Butterflies Childcare Centers available globally.
