Meet Stoni: The Rising Star of Ivorian Comedy

Stoni.

Stoni, whose real name is Damo Ahoua Elisée, is an Ivorian comedian, influencer, and TV host, known for his surgical and irresistible humor. He is among the successful bloggers in Côte d’Ivoire who have found their audience by offering an authentic perspective on Ivorian urban society. By exploring the customs and soul of a often misunderstood Côte d’Ivoire, Stoni stands out for his ability to address current topics with a humorous touch while highlighting our common humanity.

Born on May 18, 1988 at the Port-Bouët maternity hospital in Abidjan, Stoni spent his entire childhood in the Port-Bouët district. After obtaining his Baccalauréat in the A series at the municipal high school of Port-Bouët in 2007, he decided to pursue his studies in English at the University of Cocody, later renamed Félix Houphouët Boigny University. In 2010, he successfully obtained his bachelor’s degree in English linguistics after three years of study. Unfortunately, the following year, he lost his father and was forced to abandon his master’s studies to work and support himself. Stoni then took on various odd jobs, demonstrating his determination and ability to overcome obstacles.

It was in 2010, during the internet boom in Côte d’Ivoire, that Stoni made his debut in blogging. Deeply shocked by the spread of a sextape of a young girl on social media and the lack of empathy from some individuals, he decided to react by posting a video in support of the victim. This gesture marked the beginning of a meteoric career for Stoni, who quickly became a prominent figure in the Ivorian web sphere. Nicknamed the “little prosecutor” or the “hurried kpakpato” by his fans, Stoni stands out for his ability to defend, raise awareness, criticize, and above all, make people laugh.

Passionate about theater and cinema, Stoni honed his video editing skills and began producing a series of sketches addressing societal issues with a touch of humor and morality. His diverse productions, including buzz shows, humorous chronicles, and collaborations with other web comedians, have allowed him to stand out and attract a wide audience.

In 2021, Stoni was named the Best Ivorian Web Comedian at the Primud Awards and the Best African Web Comedian at the African Talents Awards, confirming his status as a major figure in Ivorian comedy and across the African continent.

With his overflowing creativity, social commitment, and incisive humor, Stoni continues to captivate and entertain his audience, leaving an indelible mark on the Ivorian and African comedy scene.
