Methodist Church Nigeria in Lagos has concluded arrangements to host the 2024 yearly Heads of Conferences Summit and Conference of Africa Methodist Women’s Movement Wing.

The Heads of Conferences Summit is a gathering of heads of conferences from various Methodist families in Africa for fellowship, consultations and facilitating collaborations that will move the mission of God through the Methodist Movement in Africa forward, hence it is not only an international programme but also a spiritual gathering of the Wesleyan movement in Africa.

According to a statement by the media and publicity committee, the five-day event coming up at Methodist Church Nigeria, Wesley Chapel, Lekki, Lagos, will begin on May 29, 2024 and end on June 3, 2024, while the official event will kick off on May 30, 2024, with a Holy Communion service to be conducted by the Chief Host of the Summit, the Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr. Oliver Ali-Aba.

The theme for the summit, “A revitalised Methodist Movement for the transformation of Africa’s socio-political and economic landscape,” will be delivered by Bishop Ivan Abrahams, who is the General Secretary, World Methodist Council (WMC).

One of the key highlights of the summit includes a public lecture titled, “Leadership in a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous World,” to be delivered by former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday, June 1, 2024, while the entire summit will be rounded off with multiple thanksgiving services on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at various select Methodist churches throughout the conference area.
