Mountain Top varsity begins academic activities Dec. 21

All is now set for the commencement of 2015/2016 academic session of Mountain Top University (MTU), a faith-based institution, owned by Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM).

Vice Chancellor of the school, Prof Elijah Ayolabi, who made the announcement on Tuesday at the campus, expressed delight that the journey of 12 years has finally become a reality.

He said the formal opening/inauguration of the institution schedule for Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Prayer City Multipurpose Hall, would also feature the maiden matriculation ceremony of the school.

He said the institution, in line with the National Universities Commission’s (NUC) approval, would commence academic activities in two colleges: the College of Basic and Applied Sciences with programmes in Computer Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

In the College of Humanities, Management and Social Sciences, programmes in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, Public Administration, Economics, English and Religious Studies will also commence.

According to Ayolabi, “The journey to the realisation of this vision started on Thursday, August 21, 2003. The institution is envisioned as a dynamic centre of academic excellence in the liberal tradition for the production of top-rate morally sound graduates of distinction, who will be globally competitive for outstanding impact on the Nigerian societal and global development.

“Our mission is to provide excellent facilities for the training of men and women in various academic, professional and vocational disciplines in an atmosphere that will enhance the simultaneous development of their spiritual, mental and physical faculties.”

He said out of the 270 students offered admission, 170 have registered so far adding that, “as a sign of commitment to excellence, each of our students would be provided a mobile learning device on gratis with 24-hour access to our electronic library resources.”
