MWAN takes oral health campaign to Edo schools

Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN) Edo State chapter, in collaboration with Nigerian Dental Association (NDA) recently visited 16 schools in Edo state in commemoration of World Oral Health Day.

Activities carried out included Oral health education, demonstration of tooth brushing techniques and quiz session relating to oral health.

Immediate past president of MWAN, Dr. Adesuwa Urhoghide-Edigin, who led over 40 female doctors to the various schools warned against poor oral hygiene, which causes tooth decay and severely impact teeth and gum development.


While noting that children who have poor oral health often miss more school activities and receive lower grades than children who don’t, Urhoghide-Edigin, said some of the schools visited include, Adesuwa grammar school, Ekosodi primary school, Federal staff primary school, Federal staff secondary school, Igbinedion Secondary School, UDSS primary and secondary school and Gabus Academy.

Others are Word of faith secondary school (junior and senior) Goldmark primary and secondary school, UBTH staff primary and secondary School, Sabor School Irrua, Mother of Nations School, Irrua, Elena Primary and Secondary School and Manger School.
