NAPE urges NASS to enact regulatory frameworks for petroleum industry growth

National Assembly (NASS)

The Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) has urged the National Assembly (NASS) to enact regulatory frameworks and policies that would foster the growth of the petroleum sector.

The NAPE made the call during a courtesy visit to the NASS to foster value-driven collaboration and strategic dialogue between the petroleum industry and the legislative arm of the government.

The NAPE delegation, led by the President, Abiodun Ogunjobi, told the Senate and House of Representatives committees for petroleum resources that issues affecting the petroleum and exploration landscape in Nigeria were enormous and required urgent attention.

He said the issues range from regulatory frameworks to environmental concerns as well as the role of NASS in enacting pieces of legislation that would engender a robust and efficient energy industry.

Ogunjobi highlighted the opportunities, current realities and challenges, noting that NAPE is committed to working with the committees on upstream petroleum to create optimum value for the resources and the required infrastructure to deploy natural gas as transition fuel.

“The courtesy visit marks a significant step towards building a stronger partnership between the petroleum industry and legislative stakeholders. It reflects a commitment to collaboration in addressing the challenges and harnessing the opportunities within the sector for the benefit of the nation,” he said.
