• We Want To Win Every Match, Every Trophy— Player
• We’re Not Worried About Salaries, Bonuses, Focus Is On AFCON— Pesiero

Determined to give their star striker, Victor Osimhen, the support needed to excel in the on-going Africa Cup of Nations, some fans of Napoli FC have arrived in Abidjan, venue of Super Eagles group matches.

Osimhen is making his second appearance at Africa’s biggest soccer competition, after featuring for just 45 minutes at the Egypt 2019, in Nigeria’s third place match against Tunisia, which the Super Eagles won. He was absent at Cameroun 2021 AFCON owing to injury.

The 25-year-old was seen chatting with the fans in a short video posted on Super Eagles’ X handle. The fans later posed with Osimhen in a group photograph. The Super Eagles will face the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea today in their first group match.

Meanwhile, Osimhen has reiterated the ambition of the team to win the 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations. Osimhen, while speaking with Al Jazeraah, said he wants to win the Cup and also write his legacy.

“We want to win every match, every trophy available, to make Nigerians proud of us again. Our coaches have some new ideas to help us get there, and if we work together as a team, anything is possible.

“I want to win the AFCON with my country and write my legacy. All the greats in Nigeria have a title to their name and to be mentioned in that space I must win it, too,” he said. Osimhen scored 10 goals during the qualifier to emerge as the top scorer.

Meanwhile, coach Jose Peseiro has said that he is not worried about salaries and bonuses as his team are focused on winning the AFCON.  He made the statement while answering questions from the media at the AFCON pre-match conference. “Money and bonuses should be the last discussion, we need good results first. We all need money, but money is the last discussion,” he said. Speaking further, he added that he only discusses salary with the NFF and not with the media. “I don’t discuss my salary and bonuses with the media.”
