NBA raises panel over Raheem, Buraimoh deaths

The late Mrs. Raheem
Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has constituted a nine-member ad hoc committee to probe murder of female lawyer, Mrs. Omobolanle Raheem and Gafaru Buraimoh, killed by police officers in Lagos.

A statement by National Publicity Secretary, Akorede Habeeb Lawal, reads in part: “We start by acknowledging that nothing we do will ever be enough to bring back our late member, Mrs. Raheem. We, however, believe that our strong and unwavering pursuit of justice in this case may mean that another Nigerian will not have to lose his or her life in the illegal, unlawful and unjust manner that Raheem’s life was taken.”

NBA noted that since Buraimoh’s passage, the police authorities have refused to disclose identity of the killer, demanding immediate disclosure.
Consequently, NBA President, Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau (SAN), established an open communication with police authorities over the incident.
