Worried about the economic challenge of the country, the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL) has pledged to develop strategies and tactics to make lawyers and businesses strive.

Speaking ahead of its 18th yearly international business law conference and 20th anniversary of the Section, Chair of the Conference Planning Committee, Ose Okpeku lamented that the current economic challenges have caused significant difficulties in the business space.

The difficulties, he said, are not just affecting businesses alone, but clients and ultimately lawyers.

“We need to overcome this challenge and when we do so, we will thrive. We need to help business lawyers, businesses in general, and the Nigerian economy in the whole to survive this very difficult period,” he stated.

Speaking about the conference scheduled to take place from June 26 to 28, 2024, in Abuja, with the theme: ‘Survive and thrive’ Okpeku said: “We are excited for this year’s conference as it is set to provide invaluable insights, and strategies for legal professionals, young and old, to navigate today’s evolving economic landscape.”

He added that the conference will deal on both the macro and the micro economic issues.

The conference, he said, also seeks to address the current challenges, equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to foster resilience and success in the legal profession.

Vice Chair of the Conference Planning Committee, Solape Peters, explained that this year’s conference, which doubled as their 20th anniversary, is a significant milestone for the NBA-SBL.

“It not only reflects our enduring commitment to excellence in business law, but also our resilience and adaptability in the face of evolving challenges. We are excited to celebrate this journey with our members and partners,” Peters remarked.
