Contractors handling 952 abandoned projects of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in Rivers State have been urged to return to sites.
The representative of Rivers State in the NDDC board, Tony Okocha, gave the advice during a meeting with over 200 contractors handling the commission’s projects in the state.
Okocha explained that the meeting was to enable the board and management of NDDC to interact with the contractors directly, and to ascertain their challenges, recommendations, and suggestions.
He assured the contractors that the present governing board of the commission, headed by the Chairman, Chiedu Ebie, and the Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, respectively, was poised to rewrite the history of the interventionist agency by ensuring that contractors were given proper and appropriate attention, thereby urging them to return to sites.
The Rivers state representative cautioned the contractors against rendering substandard jobs and warned against the consequences of such acts, saying the commission was determined to deal with such contractors.
Meanwhile, the commission has presented mobility and hearing aids to persons living with disabilities in the Niger Delta region, with an assurance that it was committed to their well-being and development.
