NDLEA intercepts drugs concealed in gas cylinders, water bottles

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted drugs concealed in gas cylinders, steel bolts, vape pens and water bottles.

NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a video on his X account on Sunday.

In the video, Babafemi showed the moment NDLEA officers uncovered the hidden contraband.

“Narco-trend update: Different modes of concealment uncovered by #ndlea_nigeria officers in major busts across the country,” he wrote. “From cooking gas cylinders to steel bolts, vape pens to water bottles. Take a look and you’ll agree the desperation is appalling.”


In March, operatives of the NDLEA intercepted 20 parcels of cannabis sativa weighing 10.70 kilograms concealed in African salad popularly called Abacha and dried vegetables to Doha.

A 35-year-old lady, Chidinma Agbazue was arrested after she was caught attempting to export the items to Qatar through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Ikeja Lagos.

Also in March, operatives of the agency intercepted a consignment of illicit drugs concealed in the engine compartment of an interstate commercial bus.

In a statement Babafemi, said no fewer than 5.2kg of cannabis sativa and opioids were discovered in the commercial bus on Gbongan-Ibadan Road, Osun State.
