Ibrahim Kabir

The new Maigari of Lokoja in Kogi State, Ibrahim Kabir, Maikarfi IV, has promised to work for the peace, stability and development of the emirate to promote the overall development of the state.

Kabir, whose appointment was recently approved by Governor Yahaya Bello as the new Maigari of Lokoja, commended the governor and promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.

The monarch stated this in his palace, yesterday, after he was turbaned as the seventh Maigari of Lokoja, by the kingmakers led by the Talban Lakwaja, Air Marshall Ndatsu Umaru (rtd) and witnessed by Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Muhammadu Sha’aban.

He also promised to continue with the good legacies of his predecessors; with priority attention on unity and development.

The royal father enjoined the people of the emirate to rally round him in the discharge of the onerous responsibilities as a Maigari and forge ahead to confront the challenges of the future.

Maikarfi thanked the kingmakers for bestowing on him the position of Maigari.
“I thank all those responsible for my appointment; kingmakers, ruling houses, and the governor for approving my appointment.”

The monarch said he was touched by the show of affection for his person by the people of Lokoja Emirate Council that trooped out to congratulate him after he was confirmed by Bello.

He thanked the royal families for their support and sportsmanship, adding: “It is time to unite for the peace, unity and development of our community.”
