Angered by alleged non-performance in the National Assembly, the Kaduna Good Governance Group (KGGMG) has described the Senator representing Kaduna Central Zone, Lawal Adamu, as the worst lawmaker ever elected from the area due to his poor performance.

Members of the KGGMG said that lawmakers representing Nigerians from different parts of the country are expected to contribute on the floors of the National Assembly on issues germane to the development and growth of the nation, and not just be onlookers.

In a statement by the Coordinator of the KGGMG, Bagudu Ibn Mohammed, on Tuesday in Kaduna, the poor representation by Senator Adamu has made him the “worst lawmaker ever elected in Kaduna’s history.”

According to the group, the anger to speak truth to power was “provoked by the failure of the lawmaker to stand up on the floor of the Senate to speak on a plethora of issues, such as insecurity and the economic hardship affecting the progress and development of the state.”

“We are perturbed that for almost two years in the Senate, Senator Lawal Adamu, fondly called ‘Mr. LA,’ has failed to adequately represent the interests of his constituents, advocate for policies, and help individuals navigate federal agencies and programs,” Mohammed said.

The group pointed out that it was no surprise when several other groups from the state had expressed similar views in the past, while recounting “how, sometime in 2024, the Kaduna Elders Forum expressed displeasure over his non-performance and demanded the recall of Senator Lawal Adamu.”

KGGMG also referenced the Elders Forum, saying, “In the history of senatorial representation in the state, no elected lawmaker has performed beyond expectation like the incumbent senator.”

The statement further said: “In a similar manner, we remembered when the Kaduna Peace and Tranquility Forum (KPTF) threatened to mobilize for his recall from the National Assembly for alleged non-performance.

“Mr. Lawal Adamu, in our view, is the worst senator ever elected from the Zone by the people since the return to democracy in 1999.
“It is unfortunate that 28 months after he was inaugurated as a lawmaker in the National Assembly, the promises he made are yet to be fulfilled. The big question is, how do you expect the people to consider someone who doesn’t stand up to speak; a lawmaker who does not frequently visit his seven local governments and has not brought anything tangible to the state as a result of his legislation, to be voted in 2027?”
