•Resolves to send resolutions on insecurity to ONSA

House of Representatives, yesterday, said 380 Nigerians were kidnapped in January, 2024, and resolved to forward all resolutions on insecurity to the Office of the National Adviser (ONSA) for implementation.

The lawmakers also said over 26.5 million Nigerians were projected by the Food and Agriculture Organisation to be food insecure in 2024. They mandated the Clerk of the House, Yahaya Danzaria, to compile all House resolutions on security and forward them to the office of the National Security Adviser and the Committee on Legislative Compliance for action.

The resolution was a sequel to a motion moved by the Minority Leader of the House, Kingsley Chinda, and 28 others during yesterday’s plenary, calling for interventions on them.

Moving the motion on behalf of the co-sponsors, Chinda expressed concerns over the worsening insecurity situation in the country.
He said the House: “Notes with utmost concern, the worsening insecurity situation in the country, from armed robbery to banditry, food theft, kidnapping, and killings.”

Chinda said unless the House of Representatives matched its resolutions with actions, the faith that the citizens had in the House would wane, and more Nigerians would continue to suffer the negative effects of insecurity in all sectors of the economy.
