TODAY, amidst pomp and pageantry, a new king is ascending the throne of the ancient town of Ife, which the Yoruba people of the South-Western Nigeria regard as their cradle and spiritual home.

Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, young, handsome and untainted steps out in majesty, wearing the age-old crown, Aare, to receive the staff of office, the stamp that formally and before the whole world, proclaims him the rightful owner of the throne.

The rays of his advent have filled the air, rippling to all lands and towns of the South-West. The Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola will hand over the staff of authority this morning.
