Abductors of two pastors of a new generation church in Asaba Delta State, yesterday, established contact with the family members, demanding N100 million for their release.

A six-man gang abducted the two, Daniel and Chris, as they went to a branch of the church in Ugbolu community near Asaba on Thursday evening. The kidnap might not be unconnected to a recent donation of large sums of money to the church by a top politician.

A church member who spoke with our reporter said the kidnappers in the early hours of yesterday established contact with the family of the victims. A family member of one of the pastors, Mrs. Mabel Atumah, said: “We got a call from the kidnappers asking for N100 million. Where can the church or family members get such amount of money?”

A visit to the church revealed that members have embarked on fasting and prayers, seeking divine intervention on the matter. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, said the police were on the trail of the kidnappers, and that they would soon be brought to book.About six pastors have been kidnapped in Asaba in the last two weeks and released after ransom was paid.
