Adamawa urges residents to shun national protest

Ahmed Lawan

The Senior Special Assistant to Adamawa State Governor on Peace and Security, Ahmed Lawan, has advised residents, especially the youths, to shun the October 1 national protest called by “few faceless and unpatriotic Nigerians.”

Describing the Northeast state as ever peaceful, Lawan said it “is suicidal for any claimed patriot to consider a protest of the kind under any guise, now that the country is undergoing unprecedented restructuring.”

A statement by him stated that Adamawa would not join the protest, stating that the state did not benefit from anything meaningful from previous ones.
Acknowledging peaceful protest as a constitutional right for Nigerians, the governor’s aide added: “But any such action from the faceless protesters whose identity could not be ascertained should be ignored and not be encouraged by a true and genuine patriot.”

Lawan appealed to the sponsors to shun any exercise that could be hijacked by hoodlums to destroy the “beautiful projects, programmes and policies of the Governor Fintiri’s administration which took dedication, hard work, commitment and selflessness to build over the years and which all residents are enjoying.”
