The crisis rocking Aguluzigbo community, Anaocha Council of Anambra State, has taken another dimension, as some stakeholders have declared the election held to select their new monarch null and void.

The stakeholders condemned last week’s ballot, saying the election of Chief Rufus Ilodiba as Igwe-elect did not follow due process.

Consequently, the Chairman of Aguluzigbo Development Union Igweship Election Adhoc Committee, Mr. Ebelechukwu Anyaeche, and the Secretary, Sir Obika Sunday, tendered their resignation letters to the President-General of Aguluzigbo, Mr. Nwike Madueke, citing lack of freedom to operate.

Some elders and youths from Etuleze village in Aguluzigbo, who spoke after a town hall meeting at Umuelim community hall yesterday, said people were subjected to harassment and intimidation during the election.

The chairman Umuelim, Chief Obinna Obinwa, explained that the constitution recommended persons of 18 years and above as eligible voters in the Igweship election, but that the PG added presentation of ADU levies and dues receipts.
