THE All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has berated the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for suggesting that former Governor Chibuike Amaechi’s appointment as Minister of Transportation was a waste and would not impact on the indigenes.

A statement signed by the state chairman, Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, said “APC takes strong exception to PDP’s description of Amaechi as a misfit.”

He said describing a minister of the federal republic as a misfit evidently crosses the line and speaks volumes about the character of the state PDP leader, Governor Nyesom Wike and other party members.

“We view this statement not only to be unfortunate but also a great disservice to Rivers State and Nigerians as a whole,” Ikanya stated.

He noted that Nigerians knew Amaechi as an achiever and believed in his ability to turn the transport sector around.

Meanwhile, the state government has indicated readiness to commence total rehabilitation of public secondary schools in the state through revival of decayed infrastructures at the institutions.

Governor Wike, who dropped the hint at the weekend while inspecting the commencement of work at Government Girls Secondary School, Rumuokuta in Obio /Akpor Local Council of the state, assured that he would reintroduce boarding schools with modern facilities to improve the standard of education in the state.
