Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North have condemned the comment by Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu that there was nothing wrong with Bola Tinubu running on Muslim-Muslim ticket in the coming presidential election.

Leader of Concerned APC Stakeholders from North East, Michael Damina, in an interactive session in Bauchi with journalists, yesterday, said: “Our flagbearer should disregard the claim by Kalu that Tinubu’s wife is a Christian pastor and ‘vice president’; hence, Northern Christians should remain calm.

“Senator Oluremi Tinubu is from the South and she can neither represent the North nor Northern Christians.”

He prayed that Tinubu, President Muhammadu Buhari and other APC stakeholders would take a bold step by presenting Yakubu Dogara, a Christian from Bauchi State, North East Nigeria, as Tinubu’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election.

Kalu, while addressing journalists in Abuja, had said: “If I were in the position of Tinubu, whose wife is a pastor in a Pentecostal Church, I would go for a Muslim-Muslim ticket. The most important thing is for the party to win. We should stop this rubbish about religion.

“Already the wife is a pastor and they have been living together for over 40 years. These are facts. So, don’t blame anyone. Tinubu’s wife is already like a vice president. I am saying my opinion. I am a Catholic. This is Orji Kalu’s opinion. You cannot deny me my opinion.”
