Babalakin wants education system restructured

Nigeria must restructure its education systems to produce employable graduates and regain global respect.Delivering the seventh convocation lecture of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, yesterday, Chairman, Agreement Renegotiation Committee of Nigerian Universities, Dr. Wale Babalakin SAN, said this has become necessary because of the present ranking of Nigeria’s best university as 800th in the world.

Babalakin, calling on governments to adequately fund the education sector, said quality products from secondary school would ensure quality university graduates. He decried the over population of classes without adequate facilities to ensure quality learning. He said quantity should not be sacrificed for quality.

Also speaking, Vice Chancellor, KWASU, Professor Abdulrasheed Na’Allah said the institution’s major challenge is funding, as it has not received subvention from government for five years.
