Barau appoints Abdullahi, Fagge, Daily Trust Editor, Ajimobi’s son as CoS, aides

Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau (Kano North), has named Prof. Muhammad Ibn Abdullahi as his Chief of Staff (CoS); Prof. Bashir Fagge, Special Adviser (Policy and Monitoring); and Deputy General Editor of Daily Trust, Ismail Mudashir as Special Adviser (Media and Publicity).

In a statement from his media office, Barau also appointed Idris Ajimobi, son of former governor of Oyo State, the late Abiola Ajimobi, as Special Adviser (Special Duties); Yusuf Tumfafi, Special Adviser (Political); Mrs. Ngozi Nkemdirim, Special Adviser (Administration; and Shittu Kunchi, Special Assistant (Media and Publicity).


Abdullahi, born in Faruruwa, Shanono Local Council of Kano State, was, until this appointment, the Head of Department, Education, School of Continuing Education, Bayero University Kano (BUK).

Fagge, a professor of Animal Science, hails from Fagge Local Council of Kano. He was Provost, Federal College of Education Technical, Bichi, Kano, between 2015 and 2023.

Mudashir, who hails from Kwara State, was born in Zamfara State. Until this appointment, he was the Deputy General Editor of Daily Trust Newspapers.

The young Ajimobi had his early education in Nigeria before moving to England for a bachelor’s degree in Business Management in 2004 and Master’s degree in International Relations.

Nkemdirim, who was born in Jos, Plateau State, hails from Imo State. The graduate of University of Calabar, Cross River State, has been at the National Assembly for over two decades. Until her appointment, she was the Director, Journals and Procedure of the Senate. In 2008, she obtained a Master’s in International Administration from the London Metropolitan University, UK.

Barau said the appointees were selected based on track records in their respective professions.  He said the appointments take immediate effect.
