The Chairperson of Dambam Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Hon. Yakubu Garba, has died after a brief illness.

His death was announced in a statement issued on Saturday morning by Mukhtar Gidado, Media Aide to the State Governor. According to the statement, Garba passed away in a hospital.

Garba was elected alongside 19 other council chairpersons in August 2024.

Governor Bala Mohammed, in his condolence message, expressed deep sorrow over the death, describing Garba as a dedicated public servant, grassroots mobiliser, and community leader who devoted his life to the service of his people and the development of Dambam Local Government.

“The late chairman will be remembered for his humility, commitment to duty, and the positive impact he made on governance at the grassroots level,” the governor said.

He prayed to God to forgive Garba’s shortcomings, grant him eternal rest, and give his family, colleagues, and the people of Bauchi State the strength to bear the loss.

The late council chairperson will be buried today, Saturday, at Misau Central Mosque at 2:00 pm.
