Benue motorcyclists, motorists deplore attacks

Protesters at Naka, Benue State over herdsmen’s killing along the Makurdi-Naka-Ankpa Road…yesterday.

Chairman of Benue Motorcycle Association, Naka branch, Mathew Kwaghza, has lamented losing no fewer than 37 members and over 67 motorcycles on the Makurdi-Naka-Ankpa federal highway within two months.

He told newsmen when members of the association and the National Union Road of Transport Workers (NURTW) Gwer West Council branch, yesterday, staged a joint protest to express their displeasure over the perennial attacks and killing of their members by armed herders.

The groups barricaded the highway for over seven hours to protest the killings. The Gwer West branch chairman of NURTW, Numba Tyogema, said the union had directed members to use alternative routes pending the government’s intervention.
