Boko Haram commander and five other terrorists have surrendered to Sector 3 of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in Monguno, Borno State. Adamu Muhammad, a commander, surrendered to the army along with five other terrorists on May 23, 2024 in the Operation Lake Sanity II.

The MNJTF Chief of Military Public Information Officer, Lt-Col. Abubakar Abdullahi disclosed yesterday, that the ongoing operations in the Lake Chad region, was to secure the lake’s shores and basin.

He said that the surrendered commander, 22, was known for his involvement in multiple attacks in Kangarwa, Alagarno, Doro Naira and Dogon Chikwu in Kukawa Local Council of Borno State.

Besides, the MNJTF Spokesman added that the surrendered terrorists also relinquished 11 rounds of ammunition and an anti-aircraft gun truck.

According to him, the surrendered young fighters include Isah Ali, Hassan Modu, Nasir Idris, who served as an escort for Jubillaram’s commander, Usman Rash, Abba Aji, and Abubakar Isah.

Abdullahi stated that the surrendered commander and terrorists are undergoing investigations and profiling by the military. He further said: “The total number of terrorists and their commanders has hit 119 in the Operation Lake Sanity II.”

The MNJTF, therefore, urged other militants to surrender by renouncing violence and embracing peace in the Lake Chad region.
