Buhari visits Kuje prison after terrorist attack
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday made a surprising stop over at the Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja, for an on-the-spot assessment of the level of damage done to the facility by invading terrorists, Tuesday night
Terrorists, believed to be Boko Haram elements, had in the late hours of Tuesday stormed the correctional center in commando-style, leaving tears, sorrow, and blood, as one security personnel and six inmates were reportedly dead.
About 600 inmates, many of whom were said to be detained by Boko Haram inmates, are also out of the facility.
President Buhari was on his way to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, en route to Dakar, Senegal, for a scheduled International Development Association (IDA) for Africa Summit.
There had been public outcry over the decision of the President to go ahead with the Dakar trip after the terrorist attack on the correctional center and another one involving his advance team to Daura, around Dutsinma, Katsina State, also on Tuesday evening.
