Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, yesterday sacked his Commissioner for Information, Paul Nwosu, over alleged non-performance. While no reason was given for Nwosu’s sack, which was announced yesterday during the Executive Council meeting, a source from the Government House said Soludo could no longer condone the alleged incompetence of Nwosu, having observed the dwindling image of the governor, especially as next year’s governorship election approaches.
The source further revealed that the cabinet reshuffle may likely affect a total of six commissioners and eight special assistants and advisers. Meanwhile, the Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed Dr Law Mefor as the new Commissioner for Information nominee.
He hails from Abatete in Idemili North Council Area of Anambra, and holds a postgraduate diploma in journalism, and a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
In another twist, Nwosu’s purported resignation letter addressed to the governor, through the Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, said he wished to resign his appointment having served for over 10 years, insisting that it’s time he moved on to other opportunities. Recall that the Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Chido Obidiegwu, was recently relieved of his appointment.
