Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution (PHED) PLC marked this year’s Children’s Day celebration with a quiz competition for students of public secondary schools in Rivers State.

The competition, tagged: ‘Catch Them Young,’ had five secondary schools drawn from Port Harcourt metropolis participate in science, arts and current affairs subjects.

The schools that participated are Community Secondary School, Rumuapara; Community Secondary School, Okoronodo; Model Secondary School, Government Reserved Area (GRA); Government Secondary School, Borokiri and Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Rumukwurisi.

The electricity company noted that the competition was part of its renewed effort to deepen customer relationship. The company stressed that the inter-school quiz competition was a way of improving its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Community Secondary School, Rumuapara, took first position, while Government Secondary School, Borokiri, and Community Secondary School, Okoronodo came second and third, respectively.

The Managing Director of the company, Dr. Benson Uwheru, in his speech, yesterday, noted that the competition was a way of giving back to the society, and for customers to understand that the company has rebranded.

Uwheru, represented by the company’s Chief People’s Officer, Micah Ledee, explained that PHED is trying to regain the confidence of customers after being seen in a bad light.
