A cleric, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, has urged Nigerians to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari to succeed in reviving the economy and recovering monies looted by public officers.

Chukwuma, who is the Archbishop of the Anglican Arch-Diocese of Enugu State, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Enugu.

He said that Nigerians were tired of corruption.

He also said that the citizens needed people that would dedicate themselves to the redemption of the country’s economy.

“All leaders in this nation must be ready to sacrifice themselves – be selfless and be committed to the revival and redemption of Nigerian economy.

“That is what we need this time around – selfless service – not people, who are not ready to serve.

“We are tired of corruption; we are tired of people sapping our economy; we need people who are ready now to redeem it. Many politicians come to destroy.

“If (President) Buhari has come to restore Nigeria and we are having hardship now, let us continue to pray for him that very soon Nigeria will come back to life again by the recovery (of looted public funds) that is happening now because it is not easy to recover what the devil has destroyed.

“Recovery is not easy; it needs patience; it needs absolute prayerfulness, commitment, and also trust in God.

“That is what we need now because Nigeria had been so much destroyed by bad leaders and bad policies.’’

Chukwuma called on Nigerians to rededicate themselves to service to the nation and to shun avarice.
