COAS reshuffles Army high command, appoints new PSOs, GOCs, commanders

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has approved a major redeployment of senior officers in a strategic move to strengthen leadership and enhance the Nigerian Army’s operational effectiveness.

The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, who announced the reshuffle yesterday, said the postings affected Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at the Army Headquarters (AHQ), two General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of training institutions, Brigade Commanders, and other key positions critical to both operations and administration.

Among those appointed as Principal Staff Officers are Major General AA Adeyinka, who was posted from the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport (NACST) to the Department of Army Logistics as Chief of Logistics (Army); Major General AA Adekeye, who moved from the AHQ Department of Standard and Evaluation to the Department of Personnel Management as Chief of Personnel Management (Army); and Major General TB Ugiagbe, who was redeployed from Headquarters Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps to the AHQ Department of Standard and Evaluation as Chief of Standard and Evaluation.

Also affected were Major General AA Idris, who moved from Defence Headquarters to Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps as Chief of Military Intelligence (Army), and Major General MO Erebulu, who was posted from the Department of Special Services and Programmes to the Corps of Military Police as Provost Marshal (Army).

Other appointments include Major General EA Anaryu, now Corps Commander, Supply and Transport, and Major General JE Osifo, who was posted from the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Accounts to the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation as Director General.

The newly appointed General Officers Commanding are Major General ASM Wase, who moved from the Department of Training to Headquarters 1 Division/Sector 1 Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, as GOC/Commander Sector 1, and Major General CR Nnebeife, who was named General Officer Commanding 2 Division/Sector 3 Joint Task Force OPFY.

At the training institutions, Major General MO Ihanuwaze was appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Army Finance School and Administration.

Major General KO Osemwegie is now the Commandant of the Army Signal School, while Major General AJ Aliyu becomes Commandant of the Nigerian Army Ordnance School. Similarly, Major General AC Adetoba, formerly of the Department of Transformation and Innovation, was appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management.

Other senior officers affected by the redeployment include Brigadier General M Jimoh, who moved from HQ Operation FANSAN YAMMA to HQ 1 Brigade as Commander; Brigadier General NE Okoloagu, who was redeployed from the Army War College Nigeria to 2 Brigade as Commander; and Brigadier General AA Bello, who moved from the Nigerian Army School of Infantry to 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3 Joint Task Force South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, as Commander.

General Oluyede urged the newly appointed officers to redouble their efforts in sustaining the ongoing operations against terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats.

He reaffirmed his commitment to prioritising the welfare of troops as a cornerstone for operational success.
