Court to hear Evans, accomplice’s plea bargain agreement Nov 21
The plea bargain hearing for convicted billionaire kidnapper Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, also known as Evans, has been adjourned until November 21. The adjournment was granted by Justice Adenike Coker of the Lagos High Court in Ikeja due to the absence of both the prosecution and Evans’ counsel.
Evans and his co-defendant, Emeka Joseph, were scheduled to be re-arraigned on a five-count amended charge, including murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, kidnapping, and attempted murder.
The prosecution had previously informed the court on May 11 that the defendants had opted for a plea bargain agreement.Despite Evans’ absence, the judge issued a production warrant to ensure his presence at the next hearing.
Mr Nelson Onyejaka, counsel for the second defendant, expressed surprise at the absence of both the prosecution and Evans’ legal team.
Evans has already been convicted of kidnapping in two separate cases by Justice Hakeem Oshodi and Justice Oluwatosin Taiwo (now retired). He is currently facing trial in two further cases before the Lagos High Court at Tafawa Balewa Square.
