Davido, Yemi Alade end Cupid Games Ball in style
THE Eko Hotel & Suites was alive recently, as Unilever Nigeria Plc. staged a special ball, as part of the grand finale of this year’s Closeup Cupid Games campaign. Anchored by the duo of Toke Makinwa and Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the initiative is a platform for young individuals to confidently express the extent they would go for love by spinning the ‘Closeup tube’.
During the course of the campaign, weekly winners were rewarded with amazing prizes such as beats by Dre headphones and a valentine evening with Davido. At the end, top five entries were shortlisted from the huge numbers of entries received online across the country for the grand finale.
Samuel Adekambi emerged overall winner and rode home the grand prize of a brand new power bike; two other contenders emerged first and second runners up and were also presented with consolation prizes. Hyacinth West (the first runner up) got a pair of personalised MacBook Air Notepads, while Deborah Jesunami, (second runner up) took home personalised i-pads.
In his brief remark, an obviously excited Adekambi, who came on stage with the love of his heart, commended the brand for giving him such great opportunity. “Winning the grand prize is a dream come true,” he quipped.
Aside the prize presentation ceremony, guests at the ball were thrilled to a great time of fun and excitement with star performances from Davido, Yemi Alade, Bez and Adekunle Gold. Dance crew, Dance Na The Main Thing (DNMT), also wowed the audience with their acrobatic dance steps.
Speaking at the event, which was put together as part of the Valentine’s Day celebration, Brand Building Director Oral and Personal Care Unilever Nigeria Plc, David Okeme, stated, “Closeup is happy to be associated with such a competition, as it is an engagement platform for young adults to connect and show their loved ones how much they care, especially at valentine.”
Also speaking, Oiza Gyang, Category Manager Oral Care Unilever Nigeria Plc, informed that Cupid Games was created to foster social connections.
“Closeup is known for advocating confidence in close encounters because it provides perceptible transformation in the mouth that consumers can see, feel and believe in, and this enhances their ability to ‘close up.”
This year, the brand went a notch higher by ending the grand finale with an after party, which had Dotun, the popular Cool Fm presenter as the host of the night.
