IT was excitement and merriment galore last Sunday when high society lady, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, had her 70th birthday soiree.

The birthday ceremony held at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos was a wonderful event, with beautiful faces in attendance.

Gaily dressed, the carefully-selected guests strolled into the waiting arms of usherettes dressed to the nines.

Awe-inspiring, beautiful, captivating and awesome are adjectives that qualify the way the guests were treated, like stars.

The sheer elegance of the venue, electrified by the kaleidoscopic chandeliers, further gave expression to the preparedness and meticulousness of Mama Bakassi, as she is fondly referred to.

She made sure that all guests were pampered to no end with numerous bottles of Moet & Chandon.

Exotic apparels of the most colourful and exquisite kind, shoes and accessories that screamed designer labels decorated the bodies of celebrities.

But the centre of attraction that night was no other person other than the celebrant. She bowled everybody over at the event with her candour and charisma.

Ita-Giwa, the current Chairman of Cross River Port Authority, made new friends and converted new disciples with successful hosting of the event.

On the roll call were Ovation Publisher, Dele Momodu; Senator Oluremi Tinubu; Chief Nike Akande; and among others.
