‘Nigeria the Rebirth of African Giant’, a documentary by Penresa TV, in partnership with Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC) Africa, has portrayed the nation’s remarkable development from a place of hope, economic potential and revival of forgotten aspects that catapulted Nigeria to greatness.

The documentary takes an in-depth look at Nigeria’s economy under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, showcasing his reforms such as the removal of the petroleum subsidy and others.

It also explores the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund, which focuses on driving infrastructure development across agriculture, transportation, energy, healthcare and education, focusing on different sectors of the Nigerian economy, players in the industry and the opportunities available to be explored.

Through interviews, the documentary highlights the voices of policymakers, industrialists and entrepreneurs at the forefront of Nigeria’s transformation. It illustrates how the country’s business landscape is thriving, with a renewed focus on innovation, job creation, and sustainable growth.

The documentary does not only showcase the nation’s economic strides, it also reinforces the idea that Nigeria’s future is being shaped by visionaries, who refuse to settle for anything less than excellence.

Speaking with The Guardian, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on media and public communications, Sunday Dare, said the documentary showcased the potential of the people, economy and the reform being witnessed under the Renewed Hope agenda of President Tinubu.

“What they have done is to look at the trajectory of Nigeria’s development, what has happened in the past, the glory years, the challenges the country has faced and the gradual renovation of Nigeria.

“Bloomberg, two weeks ago, said Nigeria was witnessing for the first time in 25 years the type of growth and development it had never witnessed. Our export surplus is going up, we have seen the rebasing of the economy, we have seen the inflation drop in two weeks. So, it’s a kind of silent revolution.

In his comment, the CEO, MicCom Cables and Wires Ltd, Bukola Adubi, said: “Nigeria is a nation of remarkable stories, a land rich with history, innovation, and cultural diversity. From the ancient city of Ife, the seat of Yoruba civilisation, to the great walls of Kano, from the vibrant energy of Lagos to the breathtaking beauty of the Niger Delta, ours is a country blessed with extraordinary resources both natural and human.”

Project Director, Nigeria, of the project, Rania Elewa, said: “This documentary is a celebration of Nigeria.”
Asked about the effect of the documentary on the minds of young Nigerians, he said: “This will empower and remind young Nigerians who they are; things may be challenging, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Their resilience, hard work and dedication and positive mindset will go a long way. I think this movie will make everyone feel uplifted, and proud to be Nigerian.

The premiere was graced by Managing Director & CEO of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Dr Kayode Opeifa, who emphasised the critical role of transportation infrastructure in economic expansion; Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Folashade Ambrose-Medebem and others.
